The numbers are impressive: 1,326 donors. $176,565. 31 days.
What’s even more impressive is the way Franklin & Marshall College alumni, parents and friends put their pride to work to join our students, coaches and staff for Diplomat Athletics’ annual Raise Our Game campaign.
The campaign began on March 1, 2019, when F&M’s 27 varsity teams challenged their supporters to meet specific fundraising goals set by each team. And for the third consecutive year, the F&Mily rose to the challenge and broke previous records.
Members from every corner of the community jumped on board to support F&M’s constantly growing culture of philanthropy. Alumni, parents and friends spread the word and contributed financially, while coaches and student-athletes from every team posted on social media and sent letters and emails. Six teams (totaling 145 student-athletes) even made time in their hectic schedules to make phone calls. Students-athletes also made gifts—186 total.
Also bolstering the efforts were the 14 donors who presented matching-gift challenges to rally fan support, including Al Ingraham ’72, Diplomat Athletic Club (DAC) chair, who presented a $10,000 donor challenge for the third year in a row. These challenges amounted to $47,700 and helped to secure new donors via “$1 for $1” alumni match incentives.
“Like many of our efforts in athletics, the recent success of the Raise Our Game campaign was a team effort,” said Patricia Epps, F&M’s director of athletics and recreation. “Coaches, student-athletes, volunteers, alumni, parents and friends all came together for one cause—Diplomat Athletics. I am grateful to all the donors who made gifts to this year’s record setting effort—the support for our teams through DAC makes a significant difference for us and for our student-athletes.”
This effort is part of the “Now to Next” campaign’s commitment to strengthening F&M’s already exemplary student-athlete experience. And it’s not too late. Show your Diplomat Pride with a gift today!
